p.s. Hey. ** David Ehrenstein, Hi. Yes, I remember your great admiration for the novel, which I, of course, share. Thank you. Everyone, Mr. Ehrenstein: ‘My increadingly legendary Emergency Sale continues. If anyone could drop over Today or tomorrow and buy something, write me cllrdr@ehrensteinland.com’. Also, Mr. E has weighed in on that new Judy Garland biopic starring what’s-her-name, and his weighing-in is titled ‘“Judy” is somewhere over the Rainbow’, and you can read it right here. ** Bill, Hey. I think I have that version too in LA. You’re way ahead of me on horror films. I’ve never heard of ‘Blackcoat’s Daughter’. I need to start catching up quick. Maybe not with that one, or with my finger on the FF button. ** Corey Heiferman, Hi Corey. He’s very worthy if you ever are. Thank you about the novel. I’m very into it. I’m still waiting to get the verdict/green-light from my agent. If I get that and don’t need to suddenly find a new agent then I guess the fishing for publishers will commence. 60,000 words by Nov. 8th? Wow. That’s a task. Or it would be for me. My novel is only just barely over 20,000 words. Good luck. I’m way into your ambition. Productivity with a bizarre ending is kind of the ultimate, no? No, I haven’t done a Norman McLaren Day. I would be way into you doing one, if you are indeed so inclined. That would be great of you. Thank you, sir. ** KK, Ah, great! That you love ‘SW’. I can only imagine how sharp that P+CE show must have been. Surely she’ll get over here. Paris loves noise. Cool. CE has been here as few times, but I’ve always been elsewhere when they were. I’ve heard no news re: ‘3 From Hell’ playing or opening here. It seems doubtful, but not impossible. I’m not sure if Zombie’s stuff has a big enough following here. I’ll see it one way or another. ‘Eden Eden Eden’ on Adderall sounds both scary and weirdly practical. It’s a trip, as I need not tell you. I didn’t go the actual Desolation Center shows, no. I wanted to and remember planning to and then not being able to for some reason lost to the mists of time. The vast majority of my friends were there. I’m dying to see that film. I guess somehow when I’m in LA. I’m friends with Stuart (Swezey) so he’d probably pass me a screener link. I’m good. Anxious/restless to hear back from my agent about my novel. Gisele Vienne’s and my latest piece ‘Crowd’ is playing in Paris right now, so I’m rather busy with those performances and stuff to do with that. All pretty good. You? ** Steve Erickson, Ah, sure, of course. It was kind of a dumb question. Great that it’s finished and set. Give a reminder when the 4th rolls around if you don’t mind. I haven’t done a Frederick Barthelme Day, no. I’m not a huge fan of his books, but I haven’t read him in a long time, and I should revisit his stuff. ** Misanthrope, You’re just going to just miss Mark Gluth in London, as you probably know. Yeah, of course the trip’ll be crazy good. Plus with the Brexit/Boris insanity there, it’ll be like never leaving home while leaving home simultaneously. ** Okay. Today is simple and I leave you to it. See you tomorrow

Good to see all these manifestations of one of my favorite motifs, Dennis. I know it’s not officially one of your Halloween-themed posts, but streetlights have obvious ominous connotations for me. Hey, just look at those gifs with the costumed animals prancing around, yikes.

Hope the Crowd performances in Paris are going well. (I sometimes think about Crowd in a bizarre double bill with Gaspar Noe’s Climax, heh.) I wouldn’t go out of my way for Blackcoat’s Daughter.

By the way, are you familiar with the work of the surrealist/occultist Ithell Colquhoun? I’m enjoying her short novel Goose of Hermogenes, reminds me of Leonora Carrington, but less overtly batty. Some of her paintings are quite lovely as well.

Hope we have good news regarding your novel soon.

Street lights are probably my favorite industrial product. I love them and remember loving to look at them on the long car rides with my parents. My story I’m trying to get accepted at New York Tyrant has a line that goes like, “the UFO glow of the high mast lights floated in the blue twilight.” One of my favorite things I’ve ever written. Street lights are incredible. And yeah that show was incredible. Definitely seek her out if she makes it over there. I think CE’s going to be in LA but for an Amphetamine Sulphate reading/gig. I wonder if y’all will be there at the same time. I decided to just dive into ‘Eden Eden Eden’ sober and had to put it down after 20 pages. I’m going to continue the trip though just not as manically. I’m good too. Anxious/nervous for the same reason. I’m not sure where this book should go, and kinda worried nobody will give a shit. Boiler plate anxiety. The other bummer is my car broke down so until the shop calls back I’m back to less convenient forms of transportation for a lil while. Do you like Adam Curtis? I’m going through his ‘Century of the Self’ series right now. Total head fuck. Just found out Damo Suzuki’s coming to Austin in November, so I’m definitely buying tickets for that. I need to go to the grocery. Running out of everything. I’m going to do that now. Good weekend to you. Oh I just watched the trailer for “Crowd”. Looks great. Wish I could be there to catch it, I’m sure it’s going to go well. Stay busy. Good weekend.

Street lights are such evocative things. The German artist Martin Kippenberger made a few street light sculptures that I really love, drunken ones such as this untitled piece from 1990 swaying under the influence.

I had a hot idea for The Call zine yesterday as I thought about the latest funding application. I’ll still apply for printing costs for a few more issues, but the project will be devoloped by branching out into book publishing. The artist and writer Jim Colquhoun, whose work was featured in the debut issue, keeps a blog named Blank Tantra that’s dedicated to “hallucinatory disambulation and vagabondage”. There are 56 blog pages on there and I plan to compile these into a paperback book, maybe something print on demand, and host a launch event where the book, along with back issues of the zine, will be sold. Maybe some noise/music/performance too. Jim is keen on the idea and appreciates my interest, so right now it looks as though this could be very much on! Deadline is the 8th October so it gives me a few days to work this out. The Call presents Black Tantra, that’s what I’m thinking.

I got new glasses today, and I can barely see between one to three feet with them. I guess I have to adjust to a new prescription in progressive lenses.

I’m a bit late to this post DC but I love a good street light.
    Particularly Paris streetlights. x
