p.s. Hey. ** _Black_Acrylic, I still need to see that most recent Pee Wee movie, which everyone says is great. ** David Ehrenstein, Hi. Ah, good old Tel Quel, what a journal that was. ** Dominik, Hi!!! I haven’t done psychedelics in so long. I miss them, but I’m also not sure I want to go back there. Hm. Ha ha, a unicorn is way too good for him. Maybe a unicorn-chainsaw hybrid. I never saw that show Angus Cloud was on, so I didn’t know of him until the sad news. Hugs. Love snapping his fingers to wake you up, G. ** Montse, Hey, Montse!! The forecast says we’re set for non-summer weather until summer is a goner, so it should be luxurious for you. Knock on wood. Have the loveliest days until I get to see you next. Love, me. ** Charlie, Hey, you’re back! I’m super happy that the gloom did a disappearing act. Brain chemistry, weird indeed. Ooh, a choose-your-own-adventure story, nice! Do they have to be short? Aren’t there ‘choose your own’ novellas? I hope you wrestle yours successfully. And you’ve taken the plunge! Congrats. Muhammad Ali, watch out! Yes, you sound like you’ve sprung entirely back to glorious life. Whew. There will surely be a way to enjoy whatever I do today, thank you. You obviously too. Love, moi. ** Cody Goodnight, Hi. I’m ok. The thing I’m going through will sort itself out like things always do, I guess. But thank you. Did ‘Duelle’ make through to you? It’s crazy what having your song pop up in the soundtrack of a buzzy TV series can do. I’m kind of a sucker for paranormal investigation shows. If one enters my peripheral vision, I’m totally distractible. Funny, since I don’t believe in that stuff. Even though there’s a ghost in Zac’s and my new film. Anger wrote to me a long time ago and asked if he could make a film of my first novel ‘Closer’. I said, yes, please! But he never did. Is ‘Beyond the Black Rainbow’ slow? I guess it is. ‘Duelle’ isn’t the speediest film ever, to warn you, but it’s not “slow” slow either. Strangely, I do think ‘Duelle’ and Cocteau Twins could work together. Or at least for a first date. I hope your next 24 are legendary, Cody. ** Telegram from Darby đŸ€źđŸ€ź, Are there still telegrams, like delivered in envelopes? I guess there must be. Anyway, how refreshing to get one from you. I can totally believe that about barnacles. Are you still on the voyage, or are you drinking coconut juice on some paradisiacal island or … ? I do have pigeons. Currently a mom, dad, and a child of unknown gender, although maybe the child finally learned how to fly and they split because I haven’t heard the child cry this morning. Please report your latest discoveries at your convenience. ** Okay. I’m guessing you’re dead asleep by now, but, if not, see you tomorrow.

    Hi!!

I’ve never been a frequent user of psychedelics because I tend to get lost in my own head anyway, but they can be so brilliant sometimes.

A unicorn-chainsaw hybrid sounds quite scary and/but effective. Maybe it’d work.

I really like “Euphoria,” and I especially liked Angus’s character and acting in general. I always feel stupid grieving for “celebrities” because of the lack of personal connection – I don’t have any way to experience the true immensity of the loss, so everything I might say feels obscenely superficial and self-centered. But the news hit me nonetheless. It’s really sad.

Love suddenly waking up from his hypnosis and lying to everybody about all the crazy things you made him do while he was “asleep,” Od.

So weird, I’ve posted the past two days but comments are not showing up. I even double post and get the message that I’ve done a duplicate comments. Hmm. What’s going on? Eek.

These days I’m mostly waking up about 4:30 am, so it will not be too much of a stretch to send me to sleep at this time.

I saw Lucrecia Martel’s La Cienaga aka The Swamp today and I enjoyed it a whole lot. Cheers for the apt recommendation there!

Yes, very sad about Paul Reubens.

Next time I’m in the throes of insomnia, I’ll try to remember to pull up this post!

Finally saw Asteroid City. Very entertaining, but probably not among Anderson’s best. It’s pretty funny to see it a few days after seeing Oppenheimer, ha.

This ASMR video (“Dr. Dmitri – Request For Sleeping Pills Denied”) seems a propos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m74lpf8WtcQ&ab_channel=MassageASMR. Dr. Dmitri is a fictional character, but his advice about getting to sleep is actually good (although Melatonin really helps too.)

Two of my pieces came out today, a review of D. Smith’s KOKOMO CITY (https://gaycitynews.com/kokomo-city-black-trans-sex-workers-platform-speak/) and my interview with Ira Sachs (https://thefilmstage.com/ira-sachs-on-passages-i-wanted-to-make-a-horny-film/). MUBI is really rolling out the stops to promote PASSAGES in New York, with subway ads. If they’d accepted the original NC-17 rating, I wonder if the subway would have let them advertise it.

I’m currently in the middle of writing three album reviews. I’m struggling to do justice to DJ K. For one thing, I know that the majority of my readers would shut it off after 30 seconds, complaining “this is just noise.” I find the chaos exciting, and there’s a method underneath, but it’s hard to describe production based around extremes of treble and bass, with nothing in between, and samples and drum programming that don’t line up in the same key and rhythm without inadvertently insulting it. YouTube and Instagram videos of baile funk parties in Rio’s streets, with dancers dressed as Pennywise from IT standing on top of speaker cabinets and setting off sparklers, make the music easier to enjoy and understand.

    Hi Dennis.
How are you? I’m doing ok. Thanks for the hypnotic post today. I actually enjoy getting hypnotized as it helps me sleep better. I listen to a lot of ASMR before I go to bed as well. Sadly Duelle did not make it through, but it will one day! Ghost shoes are just a lot of fun. I don’t really believe in ghosts either, but I really enjoy spooky or scary things, so I’m happy. That’s really cool about Anger! Gosh that would have been great to see his take on Closer! Well today was eventful. Had coffee and s cake pop and saw an Australian horror film called Talk to Me. Hated it. Very boring, problematic possession film. The pretzel I had in the theater was good. Rectifying my mistake with Michael Haneke’s Funny Games (97). Unbelievably sadistic and cruel. Will end tonight with my friends and I watching Tommy Wiseau’s The Room. Also I listened to a lot of new wage last night. I love Bow Wow Wow and Devo, do you? Have a great day or night!

Hey. The one that’s flashing like crazy makes my eyes feel like they’re vibrating on the inside. Ash Ketchum in the mix, too! The Pokemon nerd in me is happy.
Yeah, I used to have a few ‘choose your own’ books as a kid, mostly Mario ones I think. The stories were never up to much but it was kinda fun choosing a path and skipping around to different pages. Since the one I’m working on is just for Dan, I can fill it with a ton of weird and wonderful shit that would be thoroughly inappropriate for a children’s book, and hopefully he’ll get a kick out of it.
Went to the beach today and it was grey and drizzly and not too breezy. Just, chef’s kiss! Perfect. I’m off all week, so who knows what I’ll do tomorrow?!
