Yeah, I hear you, & clearly you’re more of a connoisseur of the pop song than I am. As Tosh wrote in his piece, the Stones album is fun but takes zero risks. But my point was that the hype (in certain circles) made me perk up & think: did they actually try to do something new? Nope, but I guess it sounds like that to some ears.

I still have this quixotic drive to stay true to my imagination, but I think thatās healthy when balanced by my fundamental belief that objective truth doesnāt exist in writing.
I downloaded the ubu link for Blanchotās āThe Last Manā today and started reading it. Iām getting over my phobia of digital reading. Iām more likely to trust words when theyāre on a page. Now that you mention it I did appreciate how dramatic the Death In Venice film was. I watched it before reading the book & kind of forgot he was sick during my first viewingā¦ so when he was falling over himself and trembling I remember thinking damnā¦ is he really that impeded by pederastic lust? HAHA. Jay made gifs of Aschenbach dying at the end and we keep using them as reaction images. Itās great for expressing how it feels to listen to my favorite Elliott Smith songs, or how it feels to have a reciprocated crush on a guy who lives 2 states away. Allegedlyā¦
