p.s. Hey. The first time I published this post, it was kind of a lot of fun, I think, what with people sharing lists of shows they’ve seen in their hometowns or in LA or wherever and so on. It would be cool if it turns out to be fun this time too. I’m going to take a break from my project work today at some point, look in here, and hope for the best.

all i can say so far is 'no fair, no fair, no fair…'
i'm about to go to bed but tomorrow i will try to make a list of the bands i've seen here and in other places. i'm sure my list won't be nearly the half of yrs, but since you have a few years on me, i guess that's to be expected.

Dennis:
HO—LEE—SHIT.
I've got meager concert experience in L.A., but a few favorites:
1. Daft Punk at the LA Memorial Sports Arena.
2. Death From Above 1979 at the El Rey.
3. LCD Soundsystem at the Hollywood Bowl.
4. M83 (with a live orchestra) at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
5. And, this is sort of cheating but: The New Birth Brass Band at Preservation Hall in New Orleans.
Yours,
K
Fuck, there are so many incredible bands on here…
In general I don’t see many shows, but a couple acts we’ve both seen are
Bjork (went on a roadtrip with a friend to see her in Colorado—it started raining a bit at the outdoor venue while Bonnie Prince Billy was playing, but then it stopped and this giant rainbow appeared right over the stage before she came out)
The Melvins (one of my 6 foot 4 friends tried to crowd surf, got dropped—that was such a crazy energetic show)
Other shows that I remember being memorable:
The Polyphonic Spree, Willie Nelson, Curren$y, Daniel Johnston, The White Stripes, Major Lazer, Lil B, Ol’ Dirty Bastard & RZA, Sleater Kinney
I liked this post, it got me thinking about those memories. Hope your hiatus is going well and is happy and productive…you’re super-awesome, byee
Nico and Tim Hardin at the Whiskey
Π(right?): honestly thank you for the advice. the thing about going to a mental hospital, there's little therapy during the time you're there. theres more emphasis on keeping positive dally habits/and keeping a schedule . like: wake up at 7, fix bed, shower, eat breakfast, talk about plan for the day, workout, go to group meeting, ect. as odd as it may sound checking this blog is part of my own positive habits. i'm happy you're talking to me. but please don't assume things about my real temperament from my persona online. it just makes for unconformable dialog. i don't really understand it. from the beginning of our conversations you approached me as if i'm deeply lonely. i guess its because i said i know people who don't give me their real names. i ran away in the 6th grade and I only get along with street trade, street dogs and trap stars (a.k.a. hustlers, homeless people and drug dealers). if you wanna know something i've never told anyone online: my street name is tippi, and thats the closest to my name as i can get. all my real friends named me that because, as they know me, i'm a faggot who moves through really tough crowds yet very respected. like i'm a ballerina who dances through groups of people on my tippy toes. i did take your advice tho. but there was nothing i could afford. so i went to my boyfriend's place. but as i said i'm happy yr talking to me. but keep in mind that i speak in a way here where i make fun of myself to some small degree, and to a large degree dismissive to what i'm saying about myself. i don't really do good with feeling like i'm talking about things in a "feel for me" sort of way. I try to speak of things like its not a big deal to me. even if it is. or in a way where i don't have a voice thats easy to be sympathetic to. i really don't enjoy talking about events in my life to strangers. and no offense that is what you are to me. as i am to you. but once again thanks for the advice. it means alot thank you
DC: damn! great list! some enviable shows you went to. my memory aint too good right now but these are the memorable gig's i've been to, in la

Ace. I love this day – I'm on the fly at the moment but I'll try and drop in later and add a list.
Gary Gray – hope you're doing as ok as you can. Live to you.
I've got a new piece up at The Fanzine,an interview with DL Jeff Jackson about his wonderful debut novel.
Fuck. This post makes me writhe in jealousy. If I keep up the concert-attending rate I'm at right now, though, hopefully one day I'll be able to compile a list like this (though not near as prolific). Like, last weekend my boyfriend and I saw Supreme Cuts/AlunaGeorge, which was a definitely sexy concert. And in the upcoming couple of months I've got a slew of concerts I'm psyched about: Scout Niblett, Godflesh/Prurient, Tricky, Of Montreal, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, Controlled Bleeding (and Spiritualized this Thursday!). You been to any good shows this year? Oh, and what trip are you on now?
@gary gray: my point was simply that you are doing fine. of course, i respect you, whoever you are. i did not assume about you in depth, because i don't know you well, other than what you are saying & i'm glad you sound ok. good. maybe, i was too lonely and hungry, ha ha.
@dennis, i've never been to any show in the us. xiu xiu came to this city once though. no, i went to two gigs by c spenser yeh and, john abbey(erstwhile records) at nyc. gosh, you sound romantic with venues & band names.
Thomas Moronic: thank you sir. i'm going to check out your interview in a moment. how's the novel coming along?
hyemin: sorry for being snappy. i've had a long week. also probably was disappointed i couldn't afford any thai food… thai food sounds soo good right now. but really tho i do mean it when i say thank you for what you said. I hope things are going good on your end.
rudyd: OH man i forgot about the antony set at coachella! i really wish he would record studio performances of those re-imagined songs
Catching Steely Dan at all, back in the day, was a major coux. I have to ask, was this Santa Monica show the one where they had the drunken crew member introduce them? It winds up on the box set "Citizen Dan", and it's hilarious, really exemplifying Becker and Fagen's perverse sense of humor.
@gary gray, no worries about anything. i rarely get offended. a happy & simple person, i am. i only avoid people who are trying hard to offend me because making a scene like that is just so pathetic. if you ask, i've been sleeplessly in working. almost cut-throating deadline. haha. thai foods or indian foods are exciting. i miss them. occasionally, i've been a parasite to my friend here to eat something, so i might call him right now for the dinner. in ny, it's closer to a dinner time. talk soon, right?
The big news is that benjackrobinson.com is finally online! Yuck 'n Yum's resident web virtuoso Alex Tobin has played a blinder. All the Art, writing, film, karaoke and DJing is here.
Memories, saw so many good shows with you Dennis. Should add Neil Young at the Greek, that solo show? GBV at Jabberjaw was the best. MBV, Lush and Yo La Tengo at the Roxy a real treat. Some unreal lineups… Melvins, can't forget that one, the melee with those fuckers and you and Dave. How are you? I just discovered Dwight Twilley via "You're Next". How did I miss them all these years? When I first heard thought it was some throwback band like Sloan or something. I need to sit down with this list and piece back as many as I can. Cheers…Weezer, Pinback, Cheap Trick, Fugazi in Atlanta, Sonic Youth a couple of time,.etc etc. Miss you stateside and IRL pal.
gary gray: the Antony set was best show that day, somehow we got back to get Antony's autograph after that performance, made that Coachella one of the best!
Dennis, Horses are nice. And smelly. And they have rather large penises. One almost killed my mom when she was a teenager. She's scared to death of them. But she loves elephants.
I bought a new (and more expensive) pair of shoes this past weekend and am having no issues. So that's good.
I was embroiled in a lightsaber battle with a 4-year-old Sith lord on Saturday.
I can only name bands I've seen and not completely. I can't really remember where I saw them years ago.
Suede, Animal Collective, Killers, Ocean Blue, Violent Femmes, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Whodini, Kool Moe Dee, Rare Essence, Soup Dragons, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Faith No More, Patrick Wolf, The Virgins, Doug E Fresh, Dwight Yoakam, Celine Dion, Pet Shop Boys.
That's all I can think of. And there are a few festivals I went to when younger where I have absolutely no memory of being there, just getting there and waking up the next morning in bed somehow.
ok this is why I ask you often about your memories of who you saw.
Glad you liked the video I posted. I think Body / Head Coming Apart is a great record – have you got a chance to hear it. I only barely listened to clips. I think it blows the boys away – I'm not surprised really – loves in your direction. What do think about Rico – you can email if you like etc…
ok dennis some incredible bands are here but other than good post keep it up Sarantos solo music artist

Hee hee, Brian. We definitely won’t tell your mom. Lucy used to jump up on the counters when she felt there wasn’t enough food in her bowl. She’d just tear right into the food. You look so cute up there but also a little guilty.
