One route to getting to Zac’s place is taking the metro to Bastille and then a longish walk to the 11th where he lives right through a street where comix/manga stores are bunched, and I’m going to take that rather impractical but, under the circumstances, fruitful route when I go over there to work on the film this weekend, and I’ll leave early enough to get in some serious browsing time. Apparently an initial conversation between the producer and our so-called producer went well, and Zac and I will supposedly speak with the guy on Monday and then we’ll see if our so-called producer is bullshitting as usual or not. Fingers very crossed. I used to see Cheap Trick a lot, but I did miss this one gig where Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices joined them onstage to sing some songs, and I obviously pick that one. They’ve covered three Move songs. He’s performed with them live a number of times. He co-wrote two songs with Robin Zander, CT’s singer. And obviously happy that Cheap Trick brought you inside. Robin Zander is my all-time favorite singer. I don’t think there’s another rock singer who comes remotely close to his genius as a vocalist. The first self-tiled Zander solo album is very good. It doesn’t have the tonal complexity of the Cheap Trick work because he’s not the songwriter that Rick Nielsen is by any means. But it’s solid, and his singing is wonderful on it. ‘Countryside Blvd.’ isn’t as good. It’s not bad, but it’s kind of for hardcore fans only, I would say. So, what’s up with you?
